The chic provocations of Manhattan decorator Richard Mishaan fully embody the fashion-forward promise implied by the title of his 2009 career survey, Modern Luxury (The Monacelli Press). Rooms by the native Colombian run the gamut from restful black-and-white simplicity to, much more often, sumptuous style mash-ups that sound improbable yet turn out to be daredevil triumphs.
